Solid Gould  SOLD OUT!!
$2/40 pages/Half size
by Suzy Greenberg

Suzy describes herself as a "Grammar Geek and Language Nerd." This is relevant information because Solid Gould is a zine project pertaining to the verb conjunctions, I/You, He/She/It, We/They. This is the first issue of the three piece project that Suzy has planned! Issue one contains some of her dirty little secrets, entertainment and reading lists, being vegan (with a fun piece called 'Things Not to Say to a Vegan...unless you want to look like a moron') and thoughts on her body image issues.

She's So Very... #9
$1/26 pages/Half size
by Melissa Ann

Melissa Ann begins by describing her plans to move in with her partner, how her anxiety & depression have been and how she feels it affects her daily life. Her band, Jerk Life, went on tour throughout the southeastern US and Melissa Ann writes about their stop in Athens, GA where she met Fred Schnieder from the
B-52's. Her style of writing is right up my alley: open, honest and in the flow that she feels comfortable with. Melissa Ann voices her thoughts on topics such as friendship, relationships, sex, porn and body image.

An excerpt, "There are just so many thoughts swimming around in my head, and it's all so overwhelming. I want it to be over. I want to stop feeling this way. I want to be me again. I want to be motivated and excited about life."

Regeneration five
$1/18 pages/Half size
by Ashlee

Ashlee releases a multitude of emotions as she writes in a free flowing style that allows her to release herself from the moments in her life she labels as "fragments". This zine contains light text but is beautifully compiled in a smooth form of cut and paste. The images chosen in her collages interweave with her words perfectly.

An excerpt:
"In these days we are jaded
left to create something
from what has come before us
because everything has been done before
we're warped from everything we have been told
whether lies or harsh truths
what will the history books say about these years?"

Rawton Cherry  (split zine)
fat
$2/48 pages/Half size
by Jennafur & Yinka

Both girls write about the issues they face with their weight, the perception they have about themselves and the impact their weight has on their relationships.

Jennafur's side seems to expel a feeling of motivation around being fat; using her negative feelings and experiences in a transformable way where acceptance is key opposed to continuing the cycle of body hate. I felt Yinka's side focused on her raw emotions of having an eating disorder along with the powerful and unfortunate outlook that has come from being bulimic.

scatterheart
spring 2005
$1/28 pages/ Eighth size/vellum covers
by Rae

Rae's zines always grab me and hold me tight until the very end. Scatterheart was simply wonderful. Rae writes a little about being a student, she touches on a past relationship with a girl and the hurt that followed. She debates on whether she is strong enough to love again. Rae also includes some journal entries from this past spring that distinctly declare the turbulent feelings in her heart.

An excerpt: "i lost myself in songs and mixtapes; i dulled the pain with the words of others far more articulate than i."
