Nicci writes, "being a fat girl is about many things (much more than just diet and activity level). it's about choice, genetics, politics, comfort, self, body, beauty, and food. Yeah, it's different for each fat girl. i speak for myself here. About the only thing I think we all need here is power-the power to love our bodies and rid ourselves of the shame our culture seems so anxious for us to feel."
She also shares her experience and thoughts on dieting and reclaiming language such as the use of the word fat which has been labeled as a negative term in our society.

From Here To There & Back Again #3
$2/28 pages/Half size
by Shannon
It is refreshing to read a zine where it is evident that the writer is growing and evolving in their life. I appreciate that Shannon has documented her thoughts and experiences. She contemplates her desire to make anti-consumerism a daily practice in the radical/political/queer/trans communities. Shannon shares her feelings about communication, getting in touch with what feels right to her, the story about her first kiss, a review of Fat Girl Speaks 2007 as well as her thoughts about taking Paxil and blending in other self-care strategies.
An excerpt, "I don't want to feel like anxiety and panic attacks control me anymore. This is the most active I've ever been about my own health. That's one of the things that going on meds has given me. That awful process has taught me how to take control over my health and for the importance and need of self-advocacy in the medical industrial complex."
