Karen definitely has the art of cut & paste down! This zine shares a bit of our society's obsession with weight and fashion from around the 1940s to present day. Karen includes photos and interesting facts for people like Katharine Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Kirstie Alley, Farrah Fawcett, Jane Fonda and others! this issues's topic: William Blake's "The Marriage of Heaven & Hell"
$3.50/12 pages/Quarter size

This zine creation by Elizabeth really impressed me. I adored the layout, the fonts, the way she organized the bits and pieces of her subject matter. This issue's topic is about William Blake's "The Marriage of Heaven & Hell." Included is brief background info about "The Marriage of Heaven & Hell" along with a Wilkipedia summary. There is a visual interpretation of the cast of characters, a comic depicting a scene of the wedding, and a discussion between characters translated in a comic format. This is a very cool ensemble.

comics & poems
$5/36 pages/Full size
by Ed

This is a beautiful compilation, perfectly bound, full of comics & poems. I was clearly touched by the way Ed's artwork and writing flowed in unison together. Ed describes this book as, " A collection of short cartoon stories from the past couple of years; some autobiographical, some fictional. The title refers to memento-mori and pretty things.

Stories about a lonely paleontologist, two little girls who escape into the warm New Jersey night, my sculpture teacher, and other very important things."

What the people are saying:

"…Hardships in life [are] hard to conquer, yet they are eased into submission with the words and visuals of this book." – Gary Hornberger, Razorcake

"Moorman is definitely a talented writer, consistently interesting in each story… it whets the reader's appetite for what's to come next" – Sarah Morean, The Daily Crosshatch

Dear Princess Toadstool
$1/24 pages/3" X 8 1/4"

If you know Nintendo then you know Princess Toadstool. Fictional character Maggie writes a lengthy and witty letter to the princess. Maggie inquires about a variety of things that she is curious about. The attire of the princess and whether or not she had sexual relations with Mario are two of the multiple questions that are being proposed.

Priceless.

An excerpt, "I guess I'm suspicious because there doesn't seem to be a real royal family in Mario Land or wherever it is you live. Did your family get ethnically cleansed by warlords when you were a child? Did you snap and kill them all and hide the bodies under the floorboards?"

In this issue, Danny uses the class of 1925 from the Manual Training High School in Peoria, Illinois as his subject matter. It
is magnificent how he recreates their head shots using his own intriguing style. Danny's talent for capturing each individual's personality is quite clear.
